ELLU PODI (SESAME IDLY PODI)

ELLU PODI

INGREDIENTS:

Ellu or Sesame seeds - 200 gm
Garlic - 2 tbl spoon
Corriander Seeds - 1 tbl spoon
Red chilly - 1 hand full
Salt as needed



      Dry roast Ellu  in a dry pan in medium heat until bursting sound has reduced.
      Fry garlic until browned.
      Fry corriander seeds in low flame for 5 minutes.
      Fry red chilly in low flame with a pinch of asafoetida until the chillies are roasted well.


      After the roasted ingredients are cooled, grind it along with salt in a mixer.




      Grind slowly in speed 1. Otherwise the powder will become a paste texture, as the sesame seeds are oily by nature.
      Transfer the ellu podi in a dry container. 


      Ellu Podi goes with little gingely oil for idly and dosa.
